i doubt the story that she sealed him in. the earth is a cold foster mother but that’s a comfort, if you’re used to cold, & his cave-echoes make better conversation than most people i've met. he likes it there. he gave her power–not to win her–but because his mother was a witch herself. the good herr doctor says how prophets work: he knows the future because it’s his past. he knows the future that he brings to pass. a sorceror does what we all do, better than most. he makes others into weapons against himself still blameworthy for wounding. who, spying nimue fumbling at the keyhole, would guess that she had found herself locked out?
